EFFECTIVENESS OF THE NATURAL-BASED PRODUCTS AND MUCOADHESIVE FOR RECURRENT APHTHOUS STOMATITIS THERAPY: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

The objective was to describe and recommend the most effective combination of Natural-Based Product (NBP) mucoadhesive for Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis (RAS) treatment. This systematic review writing based on PRISMA guidelines. articles published in last 10 y were selected using PubMed Google Scholar database carried out during May 2021. keywords were: natural-based product, mucoadhesive, Stomatitis. risk bias assessed Oxford Quality Scoring System. Six Randomized Controlled Trial selected. NBP Aloe vera, Myrrh, Curcuma longa, propolis, ginger, Punica granatum flower, sesame oil. drug’s formulation was: gel, film, spray. polymers as vehicles Hydroxy Propyl Ethyl Cellulose (HPEC), Methylcellulose (HPMC), Benzocaine, Tragacanth Gum, Carbomer 934, Sodium CMC (carboxymethyl cellulose), chitosan. longa mg/g with HPMC relieve pain, while flower extract 934 reduce ulcer size RAS. Both formulations gel form.
